Lana is the Megan Draper of pop music. In a sea of wig-donning girls all fighting for their shot at the top (Katy, Nicki, etc) – Lana is the only one bypassing the game for something all of her own. This has always been her vibe – from Video Games to Carmen, but National Anthem is the ultimate collection of her concept. JFK was one of the ultimate pop culture figure of the era, so it really is the absolute perfect fit.
It also doesn’t hurt that National Anthem is possibly the strongest song on her album, Born to Die. Don’t you love it when an artist gets her single selection just right?
